INTRODUCTION
As we create newer, more innovative technologies, it is important for us to take a step back and take a deep breath – to look at what we are doing. As a human race, we must question the morality of the work that we are doing, and the ethical implications it may have – just because we can do it, doesn’t mean we necessarily should.
This portfolio contains the research paper from our main focal point this semester, along with a multimodal assignment, as well as various excerpts from other pieces of work over the semester that had a large impact on my growth as a writer.
The research portion of this portfolio is on Space Technology & Infrastructure, specifically focusing on Autonomous Vehicles and the Ethical Implications they Possess. In a fast-paced and developing world, it is essential to understand the technology that is going to cause such drastic changes in our lives. Autonomous cars are one of these “disruptive technologies”, and therefore it is important to understand what it means to be truly disruptive and the implications of such technologies. For they do not solely affect the evolution of technology, but also affect society and the way we view our values as well. Autonomous vehicles require a large amount of data in order to function effectively. However, various privacy concerns arise with regards to who controls the data, and what it may be used for. This is core idea of the portfolio, and is explored further within the research paper.
